Rules for the

Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association’s First Annual UGLY “HOLIDAY” SWEATER Contest

To be eligible as an Ugly “Holiday” Sweater Contestant, you must wear a seasonally-themed Ugly “Holiday” Sweater, Sweatshirt or Sweater Vest to the event. Turtlenecks and long or short-sleeved t-shirts will only be accepted underneath your Ugly “Holiday” Sweater attire, but it will not be considered worn by itself as a contest entry and, therefore, not eligible for judging. You may add to or alter your Holiday sweater however you like, have fun and get creative. To be eligible as part of the “sweater,” it must be attached. Additional items such as hats, jewelry, pants or other festive attire will not be considered when voting for the Ugliest “Holiday” Sweater, but we encourage you to wear them for entertainment purposes. How will the Ugliest “Holiday” Sweater winners be determined? There will be a total of three prize winners based on the following categories: 1st Prize ~ Most Original – 2nd Prize ~ Most Festive – 3rd Prize ~ Most Hilariously Ugly. All eligible Ugliest “Holiday” Sweater Contestants will be reviewed by our panel of 3 x Judges (Judges will be Board Members of the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association) and all winners will be notified by evening’s end of event. For Contact purposes, all Contestants must “Sign-In” with their Name and E-Mail or Phone Number to be eligible.

What prizes will be awarded? The Winners will receive the coveted Ugliest Holiday Sweater Title, Bragging Rights and Trophy along with the following Gifts:

1st Place Prize: “Thomas Tour for 4” of the Queen Mary

You and three (3) of your Guests will take an exclusive guided tour of the Queen Mary. Mr. John Thomas, “Historic Resources Advisor” to the Queen Mary, will personally take you on an unforgettable tour of the ocean liner. Mr. Thomas is an “Art Deco” historian, author and lecturer residing in Long Beach. With broad historical, cultural and structural knowledge of the Queen Mary, any tour presented by Mr. Thomas will be memorable and very special.

2nd Place Prize: $50.00 Gift Certificate to Gallagher’s Pub & Grill

Gallagher’s Pub and Grill holds a special place in Bluff Heights for being both a great eatery and a wonderful gathering place to meet friends for a fine brew or cocktail. Gallagher’s Pub & Grill has also been a longtime supporter of the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association.

3rd Place Prize: $25.00 Gift Certificate to Tru Nature Juice Bar

Tru Nature Juice Bar serves-up healthy and flavorful Juices, Smoothies and Bowls to the residents of Bluff Heights and beyond, not to mention the many “Yoga on the Bluff” daily participants. From the start, Tru Nature Juice Bar has always been a strong supporter of the Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association.

Where do I find or get an Ugly Holiday Sweater? You can find Ugly Holiday Sweaters at stores, from friends, from family members, homemade, at thrift shops, in a garbage can, etc. What is the difference between “Best” and “Worst?” Best: Unique design, colors, theme, “I really like that, and would not mind wearing it myself!” Worst: What the heck? What is that? Okay already? Not fun!

The Fine Print:

1. No Pledge is required to enter contest. Only one (1) Ugly Holiday Sweater entry per name is permitted.

2. Bluff Heights Neighborhood Association (BHNA) Board Members are not eligible to enter a contest.

3. The winners of the contest will be chosen at the close of the entry period. Winners will be notified in-person or via email or telephone, if telephone number is available.

4. Under no circumstances will BHNA or any affiliated persons or entities be liable for: (a) electronic, computer, telephone, network, internet or other technical or human error(s) which may occur in connection with the contest; (b) any injury or damage to person or property, which may be caused, directly or indirectly, from participation or attempted participation in the contest: (c) inaccurate, illegible, incomplete, misdirected, postage due, lost or stolen photos or other information related to the contest; (d) illegitimate entries (which will be disqualified); (e) punitive, indirect, incidental or consequential damages.

5. If the winner of the contest refuses the prize, he/she must notify BHNA immediately. Another winner will then be chosen at random.

6. Decisions of the management of BHNA regarding any aspect of any contest are final.

7. By entering your name, contact details and photo, you agree to receive from BHNA informational communications periodically. If you want to opt-out of receiving communications from BHNA, make your simple request to the Membership Department at info@bluffheights.org.

8. Unless stated explicitly otherwise, giveaways and contest prizes offered by BHNA will expire six months from date they are awarded. If prizes, gift certificates or vouchers offered as drawing prizes, premiums or giveaways by BHNA are lost or stolen, they will not be replaced by BHNA or by the donor of said prize, premium or giveaway. Winning Prizes have no “cash value.”

9. All eligible Contestants agree to give BHNA permission to use their entry photo and winning prize level on all social media platforms employed by BHNA for purposes of neighborhood communication and event awareness.
